Southern Ice Hockey League
The Southern Ice Hockey League is the top ice hockey competition in the lower half of the South Island of New Zealand. Teams from Albury, Queenstown, Alexandra, Gore, Maniototo and Dunedin compete in a range of various grades. Tournaments are held throughout the region for each grade.
NZIHF Junior Team Positions
Please find enclosed the advertisement and application forms for the NZIHF Junior Teams (U16, U18, U20). We are seeking applicants for all Managerial and Coaching positions for each team as we have come to the end of the 2-year cycle for appointments to these teams. It is anticipated that all incumbents shall reapply once again.
All application forms should be sent to Charlie Reid, NZIHF Treasurer by email to charlie@mlink.co.nz or to him to the NZIHF PO Box 1196, Queenstown, New Zealand 9348. All these vacancies close 22 April. Appointments are aimed to be made from 1 May.

Nationals and the New Zealand Ice Hockey League
The Southern Ice Hockey League fields teams at the NZIHF National Ice Hockey Championships in all grades (Peewee, Midget, Junior, Women and SNC). The Southern Ice Hockey League premier teams are the Southern Stampede and Dunedin Thunder.
Representative teams
The Southern Ice Hockey League fields teams at the NZIHF National Ice Hockey Championships in all grades (Peewee, Junior, Women). Southern midgets compete in a National League during the season. The teams are called the “Southern Knights”.

Southern Stampede and Dunedin Thunder
The premier teams of the Southern Ice Hockey League are the Southern Stampede who won the New Zealand Ice Hockey League(NZIHL) in 2005 and 2006 and the new Dunedin Thunder team who will entered the NZIHL for the first time in 2008.
