NZ Juniors Win Gold
The New Zealand Under 20 Ice Hockey Team have won the gold medal in the IIHF U20 World Ice Hockey Championships Division 3 in Belgrade recently. New Zealand beat the favoured team Serbia to win their first ever World Championships. The team won the gold medal in a tight 5 – 4 game vs Serbia after beating Bulgaria (19 – 1), Turkey (20 -1), Armenia (8 – 4) and Australia (7 – 2). They are yet to play South Africa, but can not be beaten to the Gold Medal and will be promoted to Division 2 for 2009.
